A Mozart bliss at Musikverein Vienna

A program centered around Mozart that delighted the enthusiasts as well as the initiates: The Jupiter-Symphony and the C minor Mass KV 427. The Wiener Akademie succeeded in interpreting both works exquisitely well at the Musikverein. The C Major Symphony KV 427, Mozart’s last, sounded inspired and captivatingly transparent. Neither the musicians nor the audience could escape the fascination created by the highly concentrated conductor Martin Haselböck, a spiritus rector who internalizes the music perfectly and makes it resonate via his Wiener Akademie and its outstanding concertmaster – in spite of his rather stiff gestures. Bernarda Borbo proved to be the ideal Mozart interpreter. Michaela Selinger’s remarkable timbre and the confident Chorus sine nomine completed the Mozart-delight. One could almost feel the audience grasp a “musical truth”.
